New for this year is 'Room 101'. The three distinguished panellists will each choose two topics they think should be consigned to Room 101 – forever!

The interest in this year's conference has been amazing, it looks like we've taken a record number of bookings so early. We are not at capacity – yet – but it looks like we are heading that way, which is just great!

The post-conference feedback from previous events (per the online questionnaire) gives us invaluable insights into what you really like and what motivates you to attend. The feedback helps inform us on a number of fronts including your opinions on the venue, relevance of speakers, the general organisation and other highs and lows. This guides decision making in the future and helps us manage your expectations.

There were suggestions last year that you wanted more interactivity as well as requesting that the innovation - the 'pop-up' session be included in the future. We have addressed these suggestions and the 'pop-up' sessions will feature this year and as a plenary session. The format (which you loved) will remain the same – each speaker will have just six minutes and five slides to share with you what they have implemented that has made them more competitive - judged by visitor numbers, improved visitor feedback, greater profitability etc. It will be fast moving and kept strictly to time.

New for this year is 'Room 101'. The three distinguished panellists (see the programme on our website for details) will each choose two topics they think should be consigned to Room 101 – forever! They each have up to five minutes to make their case and convince the audience that their choice should go into Room 101. They may be questioned by the Chair for Day 1, Ian Gardner and there will be an opportunity for members of the audience to comment /question the panellists. At the end of each 'round', the audience will vote on which was the most convincing argument and will go into Room 101. And we are expecting lots of tweets on this!

There has been considerable interest in this year's speaker line-up which again features speakers from outside Scotland and we must thank VisitScotland for its support in this. Isabelle Hegeman works at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and in the last couple of years they have worked on a strategy to attract a younger, local audience by way of their 'Friday Nights' programme. In their own words "The Museum turns on the style every first Friday of the month with a top-drawer programme packed with amazing bands, authors, performances, video artists, workshops, a cocktail bar and much, much more! The programming on other Friday Nights is a little lower key, but with a DJ, VJs, free tours and the cocktail bar, it's naturally still worth a visit."

Irish eyes are smiling with Deirdre McGlone, co-owner of multi-award winning hotel Harvey's Point in Donegal and who will inspire us in the closing presentation of day 2. This year they were the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice #1 hotel in Ireland for an unprecedented 3rd time. They were voted #6 in Europe and #18 in the world. These are simply truly amazing accolades! Their slogan is "The extra mile with a smile". We should pick up some great tips from them and the other speakers.

If you haven't checked out the programme then do so now! The bookings really are way ahead of last year and we may even reach capacity before the cut-off date for the discounted 'early bird' rates on 21st October. So if you do want to attend and network/ meet old colleagues, be inspired and enjoy the craic, then please do get your booking in as soon as possible. The event only works with your support.
